There is plenty to do around Scano di Montiferro. The Pro Loco website lists all upcoming events.

The nearest big towns are Bosa (20km) and Oristano (50km). A car is essential and the roads are quite good.

Beaches: Note these are free but bars will charge for sunbeds and umbrelllas (in season)

Little Green Train:

There is a local tourist line that runs from Macomer to Bosa Marina during the spring and summer months. Please contact Esedra Escursioni for more details:  www.esedraescursioni.it or telephone 39 0785 743044 or 39 3479481337

Museums:

There are some interesting museums in area. We recommend Cabras for nuragic history, Santu Lussurgiu for pastoral and early 20th century living, and Bosa for Casa Deriu and the Conce (tanning) museum.

Tharros:

The ancient city of Tharros is close by. www.sardegnaturismo.it/it/esplora/antica-citta-di-tharros

Nuraghi:

These bronze age structures can be found all over the island. No-one knows for sure what they were used for; fortifications, villages, etc. You can visit a good example at Abbasanta. www.nuraghelosa.net/en/home-eng/

Saint Christina:

Near to Abbasanta is Santa Cristina Santaurio. A park containing a bronze age well and several nuragic structures. It is definitely worth a visit. vigea.it/en/the-well-of-santa-cristina/

Walking:

There are plenty of good walks and trekking in the area.

Bosa Beer Fest:

This is held in late April every year, around the 25th. It is one of the largest outdoor beer festivals in Italy.

Festivals and Celebrations:

A key part of the Sardinian liftstyle is to party. During the year there are many feast days and festivals to attend. We recommend you consult paradisola.it/eventi-sardegna/calendario.

Sharing Sardinia:

A friend of ours runs sharingsardinia.it. On there there are great ideas for experiences and tours.

Parking in Sardinia:

Please note that many areas have strict rules on parking and fines/tickets will be issued. If in doubt check the signage but generally: White - free. Blue - pay. Yellow - limited mobility (blue badge holders).

If you do get a parking ticket these can be paid by bonifico (a bank slip) at any Post Office.

The parking area near the house is free parking on a first-come-first-served basis. Please avoid parking in the street outside the house as the road is very narrow and scrapes and accidents can and do happen!
